The Mergr AI Connector lets you use Mergr’s M&A database from inside AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Perplexity. It is operated by Mergr (mergr.com), the same company that operates your Mergr membership. This policy explains what data the connector handles. For everything else about your Mergr account, the main Mergr Privacy Policy applies.
When you ask your AI assistant a question that uses Mergr, the assistant sends the connector a structured search request (for example, a firm search filtered to Minnesota). The connector does not receive your full conversation — only the specific requests the assistant makes to Mergr, and it returns only the matching data.
You authorize the connector by signing in with your mergr.com credentials on a Mergr-hosted page. Your password is never shared with the AI assistant or its provider; the assistant receives only a short-lived access token. You can disconnect at any time from your assistant’s settings, and connections are limited to two assistants per account.
The connector can search and retrieve Mergr data. It cannot create, modify, or delete anything in your Mergr account.
We keep a log of connector usage — the account, the tool used, a summary of the search parameters, and a timestamp. We use this to provide support, enforce usage limits, prevent abuse, and improve the product. These logs are stored on AWS infrastructure in the United States and are accessible only to Mergr administrators.
We do not sell connector data or share it with third parties. We do not use your queries to train AI models. We do not serve advertising, and the connector’s pages set no tracking cookies. Your AI assistant provider (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, Perplexity) processes your conversation under its own privacy policy — Mergr has no access to it.
All connector traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Authorization uses the OAuth 2.1 standard with short-lived access tokens, and stored credentials for the service are encrypted at rest. Access ends immediately when you disconnect the assistant or your Mergr membership lapses.
Usage logs are retained for up to 24 months and then deleted automatically. You may request a copy or deletion of your connector logs at any time by emailing support@mergr.com; rights available under laws such as GDPR and CCPA are honored as described in the main Mergr Privacy Policy.
The connector is a professional research tool tied to a Mergr membership. It is not directed to, or intended for use by, anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.
If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and its effective date, and notify members where appropriate. Questions: support@mergr.com.
